It looks like Starfield will be taking advantage of the Xbox Play Anywhere feature. Through this, owners of Starfield will be able to swap between Xbox Series X|S and PC, without having to buy copies of the game for both systems.
That update was noticed by the Starfield Beyond Twitter account, a profile that (as the name heavily implies) chronicles all things related to Bethesda’s upcoming space epic. The Starfield store page does currently have the tag.
⚡️CONFIRMED: The Xbox Play Anywhere tag has just been added to #Starfield’s store page.
That means;
🖥️ You will own both an Xbox and PC version at no additional cost.💾 Your save will seamlessly carry over to PC, Xbox and Cloud. pic.twitter.com/1Y7S0UDiPg

To infinity, and – wait, wrong franchise
For those who don’t know, Play Anywhere lets you own a game on Xbox and Windows-based PCs at no additional cost. This also means your saves will carry over between systems, so you could literally start playing on one and smoothly transition to the other without any fuss.
With Starfield offering the Xbox Play Anywhere feature, it pretty much means you can have two copies of the game with one purchase. Maybe not everyone will benefit from being able to switch playing “Skyrim in space” between console and PC, but it’s a neat little bonus if you’re into that sort of thing.
I think it’s safe to say we’re pretty much ready for Starfield now. We’ve had everything from the game’s PC specs to a 1,000-page compendium outlining as much info as possible. Seems like all that’s left is for the game to launch. And it’s not far off either. Starfield will touch down on Xbox Series X|S and PC on September 6, 2023.
