Stellar Blade has done well for itself since it first launched as a PlayStation 5 exclusive in April. According to developer Shift Up, estimates suggest that the action game has sold over one million copies so far, and the future is looking bright for Eve.
VGC reported on Shift Up’s IPO press conference (via IGN), which was held on Tuesday and had the company touting the success of Stellar Blade. CFO Jaewoo Ahn added that the team is “looking at” a PC version of the game, something that CEO Hyung-Tae Kim confirmed with one major caveat. As a result of the game’s “contractual relationship”—likely referring to Sony—they’re unsure of a release window, or even if a PC port would be possible in the first place.
On the Eve of tomorrow
Shift Up already released a free update in May that added in a Boss Challenge mode and some new Nano Suits, but there’s more to look forward to in the near future. Next up is Photo Mode this August, with more outfits for Eve to follow in October and a “big collaboration” penciled in for sometime around the end of the year.
A public offering filing on the Korea Composite Stock Price Index previously saw Shift Up mentioning a potential PC release, and even a sequel. Considering the fact that Stellar Blade has only just now started to cool off after being pulled out of the oven, it’s doubtful that we’ll hear about that any time soon, if it does happen. On the bright side, positive sales numbers certainly make it a more likely prospect.
