It turns out the real Stellar Blade was all the bosses we met along the way. If you fancy yourself a fan of the action game’s bolder battles, you’ll soon be able to hone in on them when the new Boss Challenge mode arrives in a free update on May 24.
The patch will add new Nano Suits, updated convenience features, and the aforementioned Boss Challenge. If you fancy yourself a veteran of Stellar Blade‘s combat, you’ll be able to test your mettle against 19 bosses from the main game.
You can choose to load your own gear for the Boss Challenge or select something you like from a handful of presets. The more basic the preset, the more challenging the boss fights will be. On the other hand, choosing the maximum preset with all the necessary skills and buffed stats will give you a chance to thrash bosses in style.
If you want to take on the challenge, you’ll need battle data from previously defeated bosses. Once you’ve cleared the game, you can also fight bosses on the Hard difficulty for something a little meatier. As the screenshot above shows, there are a bunch of metrics on display after the dust has settled. You can see everything from the settings and damage taken to how many Perfect Parries and Perfect Dodges you pulled off in the process.
Those who best the Boss Challenge on Normal or higher difficulty settings will get Eve’s Neurolink Suit.
The update also adds in the White Kunoichi and Black Kunoichi Nano Suits, both pictured below.
Beyond the Boss Challenge and new cosmetics, the update has a couple quality-of-life features to throw into the mix. Shift Up is adding the option to always show the compass in the HUD, as well as making it so Eve automatically locks onto an enemy again after switching to and from ranged mode while locked. If you’ve already seen everything Stellar Blade has to offer, this sounds like a good reason to take Eve back out on the battlefield.
