According to a recent report, Street Fighter X Tekken won’t be coming to the PS Vita until this fall, but Capcom wants to make it worth the wait. The handheld version of the game will “introduce” 12 additional characters to the game (on top of the PS3/PS Vita exclusive characters Cole McGrath, Toro, Kuro, Mega Man, and Pac-Man). It’s weird for Capcom to announce all that in one go. It totally goes against their usual slow trickle-style of character reveals. There are no screenshots of any of the new characters either. Strange.
There are some specifics thought. Word has it is that Blanka, Sakura, Dudley, Elena (finally!), and the previously hinted at Cody and Guy will be joining in from world of Street Fighter. From the Tekken-scape, we’ll get Alisa, Jack, Christie, Lars, Lei, and Bryan. Hope you like half naked Capoeira ladies, because now you’re getting two of them.
Capcom also announced that initial retail version of Street Fighter X Tekken is the only “disc-based” purchase we’ll need to make to get the full SFxT experience, and that all future upgrades to the game will be made available via post launch DLC. Is that Capcom’s way of saying “Please buy this game at launch! You don’t need to wait for Super Street Fighter X Ultimate Tekken Tag to get all the content we have planned for this release”? Are they implying that all characters they plan to “introduce” in the PS Vita version will eventually make their way to the PS3/360 versions via DLC? Will that DLC be free? If not, won’t that piss off all the PS3/360 fans who’ll have to pay so much more for content that PS Vita owners will get for nothing?
Stop acting weird, Capcom. It’s scaring the children.
