Get to know the people who make great videogames

[Sup Holmes is a weekly talk show for people that make great videogames. It airs live every Sunday at 4pm EST on Youtube, and can be found in Podcast form on Libsyn and iTunes.]

We’re going to start airing Sup Holmes live on the Dtoid front page again, and who better to kick that of with than Lorne Lanning, creator of the legendary Oddworld series. Oddworld did subversive, anti-establishment themes and tough-but-fair puzzle platforming back before there was much precedent for success with that style of game design. What other series would put a totally vulnerable, near-naked alien in the starring role, one who looks you square in the face and smiles, despite the fact that his mouth has been sewn shut? I think Oddworld is the only one. It takes a lot of guts to be the only one of anything in the gaming world, regardless of who or what you are.

We’ll be talking to Lorne about what inspired the Oddworld series, the joy and pain of re-releasing Abe’s Odyssey in its New ‘N Tasty form, his inspirations, mistakes, fears, hopes, and more. Join us at 4pm EST right for a real-time conversation between two people that love videogames.
