‘Wii haven’t forgotten about U’
Super Meat Boy made its way to PlayStation 4 and PS Vita today, but those might not be the last platforms it hits more than five years after its initial release. Team Meat still has its eyes on a Nintendo console.
In a simple article thanking everybody for their work on the PlayStation versions of Super Meat Boy, designer and programmer Tommy Refenes hinted at a possible Wii U port. He closed the post by saying “To the fans we’re still excluding, I’ll leave you with this: Wii haven’t forgotten about U.”
Now that Edmund McMillan — the other half of Team Meat — has gotten The Binding of Isaac on Wii and 3DS, the channels of communication with Nintendo are likely more open than before. Also, Nintendo’s indie-friendly push makes it seem like this is the exact kind of deal it’d want to strike — a high-profile game that it knows will be successful.
But alas, if Super Meat Boy never does make it to Wii U, there’s always a silver lining: You can play the game several other places.
