A brand new Nielsen survey suggests that children aged between six and twelve want their parents to break take out a second mortgage and buy them an iPad this Christmas. According to the figures, kids want expensive, fragile electronic equipment more than a DS.
They say children grow up fast these days, and the number seem to back it up. 31% of kids wanted an iPad, while computers and iPods took joint second place with 29% each. The DS/DS Lite/DSi was following behind with 25% of the vote, while the 3DS counterpart netted 20%.
In other console news, the PS3 got 21% of the vote, the Wii got 18%, PlayStation Move got 17% and Kinect a mere 14%. The Xbox 360 itself was second-to-last with 12%, beating only the E-Reader’s 11%.
My own stepkid keeps asking for an iPad and I keep having to bite my tongue. If anybody in his family is stupid enough to get a careless seven-year-old an iPad, however, I won’t be able to restrain myself. I will laugh in their face until everybody in the room is crying. Seriously, anybody who buys a kid an iPad is a f*cking idiot.
