Take-Two Interactive wants to dominate wallets in the first half of 2010. In a recent financial conference call, Take-Two chairman Straus Zelnick said that the publisher plans to release BioShock 2, Mafia II, Max Payne 3, and Red Dead Redemption after January, but before June. Zelnick would elaborate on the release schedule, pointing out that Take-Two is spacing each release by the month.
Good for them. We didn’t want to see Big Sister and Payne rubbing legs in February or whatever, either.
If plans hold — and Zelnick expects them to currently — this is a big deal. Take-Two wants to unload the equivalent of a Gears of War 2-style s–tload of Triple-A titles in a tiny and consumable span of time outside of the holiday season. More power to them if they make it rain dollars in 2010. We’ll be buying, that’s for sure.
