A potential movie reboot of Tomb Raider just came a bit closer to reality with scriptwriter Evan Daugherty being hired to pen the tale of young Lara Croft’s first adventure — not unlike the recent game reboot. Warner Bros. has signed on as well to distribute the film and co-finance/co-produce with MGM, Deadline reports.

Daugherty’s first feature film was Snow White and the Huntsman, which he managed to sell in 2010 bidding war for $3.2 million dollars, because, holy shit, I’m in the wrong industry. Give me any existing fable, I will adapt it for a meager single million.

Daugherty spun that success into writing gigs on Killing Season, Divergent, and Michal Bay’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. For the latter, he won the Razzie for Worst Screenplay. Aside from this Tomb Raider reboot, he is working on the script for G.I. Joe 3.

It’s been over a decade since Angelina Jolie’s turn as the tomb raider and, well, this one just might be worse.
