No name yet, but here’s a teaser
The “one last thing” at the Nacon Connect 2022 showcase was a new Terminator game for PC and consoles, and while we don’t have a name yet — or anything concrete, footage-wise — we do know this is the “first survival game set in the Terminator universe.”
I bet you can predict everything that happens in this teaser trailer.
Nacon’s Terminator survival game is in production at Nacon Studio Milan, rather than Teyon, the team behind Terminator: Resistance, which some fans have rallied around.
Open-world survival in the wake of Judgment Day
“The game takes place in a post-apocalyptic open world and features an original story that builds on the events of the official films,” according to the studio.
“You play as a group of nuclear apocalypse survivors fighting to stay alive in a time period between Judgment Day and the creation of John Connor’s resistance.”
With little to grasp yet, this is a harder sell than another ’80s-icon-turned-game, RoboCop: Rogue City, which shared the first look at gameplay during Nacon’s stream.
After playing way too many survival games, I can imagine what this game could look like — and really, I feel like it could go either way. Genre, scope, and budget are all top of mind when it comes to licensed games like this. And to me, this team is a wildcard. I am vaguely into the idea of fighting for life in an intimidating machine-dominated world, though.
Are you open to a Skynet survival game, or have you had your fill of Terminator tie-ins by now? Come to think of it, I’ve gone pretty deep in the Sega Genesis and SNES libraries over the years, but I’ve never touched RoboCop Versus The Terminator. Hmm.
