If you’ve played Team ICO’s Shadow of the Colossus and ICO, you’ll definitely notice some ties between the games. Those that have finished both titles will have seen even more of a relation. But can we expect to see a similar tie with their latest game, The Last Guardian?
Fumito Ueda revealed in a Q&A session today in Tokyo that the ties between Shadow of the Colossus and ICO didn’t come until later in Shadow’s development. He said that the two games started out as totally separate concepts, but as Shadow of the Colossus’ development was closing they decided to tie the two games together.
As for The Last Guardian, Ueda says that they honestly don’t know how it will relate yet. They’re not finished with the game, and he says that they’ll find out further down the line.
It’s obvious that there are visual ties in Guardian, but I hope the team decides to work in some story ties to the other games as well.
