The Boys Season 4 is set to premiere tomorrow, June 13, but the conversation has lately been about Season 5. After recent confirmation that The Boys Season 5 will be the final season, showrunner Eric Kripke has now revealed that he’s actively trying to figure out a way to bring in Jared Padalecki for the show’s next season.
Kripke told Screen Rant in a recent interview that he has been texting with Padalecki about this, and he would love for “Jared to come in and do a guest spot on the show.” For those unfamiliar, Jared Padalecki is known for playing Sam Winchester in Supernatural, the TV show directed by Eric Kripke.
There have been several instances of actors from Supernatural appearing in The Boys, with the most obvious example being Jensen Ackles portraying Soldier Boy. Ackles and Padalecki shared the screen in Supernatural as its protagonist brothers for 15 seasons.
The Boys showrunner added that he wants to bring Padalecki to the show “not just because it’s fun to bring Supernatural characters onto the show, but just because I love working with people I love and if I have an opportunity to bring family back and work with family, I’ll take it and I have a lot of actors from that show who have really become family.”
The sentiment can be backed up the appearances we’ve had in The Boys by actors who have previously worked in Supernatural. Christian Keyes, who portayed Michael in Supernatural, was seen as Nathan Franklin in the show. Jim Beaver, who portrays the US Secretary of Defense in The Boys was Supernatural’s Bobby Singer.
Moreover, Jeffrey Dean Morgan is set to play a crucial role in The Boys Season 4, and the actor has portrayed John Winchester in Supernatural, the father of Dean and Sam Winchester.
So, there is a clear intent from Kripke to find a way for Padalecki to show up in Season 5, but the showrunner said during the interview that the team is in “very early” stages for Season 5, and he does not have “a character in mind quite yet” for Padalecki. He concluded on a hopeful note by adding: “But I’m aiming towards it and I’m just keeping in rough touch with him so that hopefully our schedules do line up.”
When suggested if Padalecki could play a character related to Jensen Ackles’ Soldier Boy so that they share the screen once again, Kripke said he liked that idea.
