It’s not looking good for window shoppers
[Update: Use this link to track potential stock, but call first. My tracker shows one 40 miles away, but it sold out as soon as the store opened.]
Scores of readers are reporting that they’ve obtained texts from GameStop noting that their Shulk amiibo will be ready for pickup in-store tomorrow. For those who aren’t aware, Shulk is exclusive to GameStop in the US — you have to get him at one of their stores.
That’s good news for those of you who pre-ordered (a few of you already got yours in the mail), but I’m not hearing good things if you’re thinking that you’re going to walk in and snag one yourself. In addition to information from trusted sources noting that Shulk will have zero extra stock on-hand, all 15 GameStop locations that I called today stated that they “only have the stock for pre-orders, and don’t know when any additional orders will come in.”
If this holds true, it will likely make Shulk the rarest amiibo yet. Rosalina, another exclusive, was fairly rare, but Target stores had ample stock across the country before they ran out. Lucario was much more rare, but pre-orders had been accepted for days on end even with Toys”R”Us’ snafus, and stores had at least one or two of them at opening.
Start asking your friends if they have any extra Shulks now, before they sell them.
