The Sims 4 ‘laundry list’ details bug fixes planned from its dedicated performance improvement team

The trash can fix is particularly welcome

Laundry Day stuff pack for the Sims 4

Following community feedback, The Sims 4 has established a dedicated team to work on issues raised by players via the Answer HQ feedback form. Ahead of the next update, which doesn’t have a release date yet, The Sims team issued a ‘laundry list’ of things they aim to fix.

There are quite a few bugs and minor issues that have been reported via the Answer HQ form, and the team hopes to fix them over the next six months. The goal is that with the creation of this focused team, updates will go out faster, and more fixes will be implemented in each update.

Although this is the first ‘laundry list’ that has been released, The Sims 4 hopes to issue a new laundry list roughly every two months, detailing the items they’re currently working on and aiming to fix. They do emphasise that not all of these things will be fixed before the next update, as some issues are more complex and require more time.

Here’s the full list of fixes the team is currently working on, according to the May 23 ‘laundry list’:

Base game:

  • If trash cans are present on the lot, the “A trash can is required” message will no longer appear
  • Dishes left in corners will no longer be ignored when a sim is cleaning up
  • Skills will no longer remain in alphabetical order
  • Weeds will only grow on plants when they’re in season
  • Sims will be able to properly merge or move households with NPC sims “not in world”
  • Careers or Jobs which don’t require a daily task will no longer have a blank daily task menu
  • Campfires will cause less fires
  • ‘Summon Grilled Cheese’ interaction will no longer drop from the interaction queue
  • Sims will no longer get stuck in the ground and continue swimming
  • Calendar notification light will no longer switch off after traveling
  • Customizable pronouns will be adjusted to appear correctly during romantic phonecalls
  • Packs will be reorganized
  • A red bar will no longer appear after switching to build mode on consoles

  • Brow piercings will no longer break nose rings when paired together

For Rent:

  • Pressure Cookers and Kettles will no longer create a ‘dirty surroundings’ moodlet
  • Property ownership of “Tam Nang Sands” will be recognised in the owned rental tab
  • Tourist location icons will now appear correctly when hovering over the Tomarang world select screen

Get to Work:

  • Aliens will stop having noticeable facial changes when aging up

Growing Together:

  • The “Had a Baby” milestone will unlock after giving birth at hospital rabbit hole and after having a Science Baby

High School Years:

  • A teen will get promoted to a better grade after completing all tasks and acing exams

Horse Ranch:

  • Sims will no longer autonomously want to buy mini goats and will stop triggering UI pop ups
  • Nectar value will increase properly when sold to the mysterious rancher
  • Horse will no longer get stuck when sleeping too close to the Horse Ball

Island Living:

  • Mermaid Conservationists will be able to complete the “Snorkel in Mua Pel’am” job task

Seasons:

  • During Winter, sims will properly animate and remove weeds if a plant has them

Like I said, there’s no guarantee that all or any of these updates will be ready in time for the next update, but it’s nice to see that these issues are being worked on, especially those which have been an issue for a long time (I’m looking at you, trash cans!).
