The ultimate map app for RPGs

Google took maps, directions, and satellite photos and made them hip again – or at least as hip as anything can be on the internet. Google Maps’ easy to use, clickable, zoomable, interface has become popular with travellers and map fetishists, but it has really become attractive to the nerdy type that likes to modify things. You may have seen applications where users can find low gas prices, find your nearest first-degree murder, or even trace someone’s IP address, but now we’ve uncovered the nerdiest application of this map software to date: Dragon Quest overworld maps.

Now you can find your way around your favorite classic 8-bit fantasy world with these four maps from the Dragon Quest (Dragon Warrior in the U.S.) series. You can now steer your way around the wosrt baddies and finally find that distant town without having to crawl to the inn with only 1 HP left.

This Japanese web page has full maps for Dragon Quest I through Dragon Quest IV , and they’re all scrollable and zoomable from end to end. Someone at Pledge of Bahamut (Japanese page) created these maps, so hats off to them.

They just need to get some dungeon maps up and we’ll be set.
