Can data be undead?
While Telltale Games has fulfilled its promise to release episode two of The Walking Dead: The Final Season, anyone that didn’t already grab a pre-order will no longer be able to purchase it. On nearly every digital storefront, the final season of Telltale’s series has been delisted at the request of the company. GOG.com has updated the store page for the final season with the message, “Telltale has requested a temporary pause of sales of The Walking Dead – Final Season. For all up to date Telltale news, please refer to their official Twitter page.”
On PSN and Xbox Live, you can still search for the game, but there is no longer an option to acquire it. Steam will actually hide the game hub from general searches, but you can still find its store page and even download the demo. You just won’t be able to buy episode one or two, which no longer have separate pages. Surprisingly, the eShop listing on Switch still lets you buy the season pass, though that likely won’t last for much longer.
While it might come off as odd that other Telltale Games are still on sale (where is that money going?), I’m guessing the removal of the Final Season is more down to not ripping people off for episodes that may never come to fruition. At least Telltale is making active measures to prevent misleading customers, though it is incredibly odd that you can’t even buy what is already available.
