It looks like next week’s Rock Band downloadable content is a random assortment of nine tracks, covering multiple styles and eras. This means, of course, no one will be happy and everyone will bitch.
The following tracks will be available for $.99 (80 MS Points):
Children of Bodom – “Are You Dead Yet”
Finley – “Tutto E’ Possibile”
Platero y Tu – “Hay Poco Rock N Roll”
Squeeze – “Tempted”
Tokio Hotel – “Ready, Set, Go”
The All-American Rejects – “Real World”
Additionally, MTV Games/Harmonix look like they’re finally appealing to the tween set with three tracks from Nickelodeon-based artists:
Miranda Cosgrove – “Headphones On” (free track)
Naked Brothers Band – “Body I Occupy” ($.99/80 MS Points)
Naked Brothers Band – “I Don’t Want to Go to School” ($.99/80 MS Points)
It’s also interesting to note the timing of the Nickelodeon tracks, considering the Wii version of Rock Band 2 is getting ready for release sometime in December. Cosgrove’s television show, iCarly, is insanely popular with the chilluns. And don’t even get me started on what they think of the Naked Brothers Band; I wouldn’t be surprised if those DLC tracks alone sell a few games.
So because these aren’t your favorite bands, let the bitching commence. But keep in mind that MTV/Harmonix have said that over 500 tracks will be playable in Rock Band by year’s end, and surprise, all of them can’t be your favorite songs. It just so happens that “Headphones On” is mine.
