The Week in Rock Band DLC: Social D, Steely Dan, more

Harmonix and MTV Games have announced that eight tracks will be available for download on the Rock Band store next week. That takes the total number of songs out of the coveted “666” spot and into a total of 674 playable songs.

  • Social Distortion – “Bad Luck”
  • Social Distortion – “Ring of Fire”
  • Social Distortion – “Story of My Life”
  • Steely Dan – “Black Friday”
  • Steely Dan – “My Old School”
  • Disturbed – “Stricken”
  • Disturbed – “Stupify”
  • Elvis Costello – “Radio Radio”
  • The Replacements – “Kids Don’t Follow”

Each track will run you the usual $1.99 on PlayStation 3, or 160 MS Points on the Xbox 360. Or, if you have a Wii, 200 Wii Points. Yes, that’s right, these tracks are hitting the Wii at the same time. Looks like the little fella’ is finally catching up.

And yes, before anyone says anything, the Social Distortion song “Ring of Fire” is a cover of the popular Johnny Cash tune. It’s actually pretty good, so before you start bitching that it’s not the original, be happy and take what you can get.

That does mean we’ve seen covers two weeks in a row; last week we had Alien Ant Farm’s cover of Michael Jackson’s “Smooth Criminal.” My suggestion for next week? The Foo Fighters’ “Darling Nikki,” because if Prince isn’t going to give up his masters, I’m willing to make a few sacrifices.
