The MtG x Tomb Raider Secret Lair set launches on November 20, and it will feature the following cards:

  • Lara Croft, Tomb Raider
  • The Lost Valley
  • Heart of the Explorer
  • Storm of Yamatai
  • The Grim Whisper
  • Totec’s Spear
  • Kitezh, Sunken City
  • Treasure

As seen, there’s plenty there to amuse franchise fans, including the Storm of Yamatai card which features the setting for Tomb Raider (2013), and Kitezh which makes an appearance in Rise of the Tomb Raider.

Lara’s card is also interesting card with comes with the following ability: “Whenever Lara Croft attacks, exile up to one target legendary artifact card or legendary land card from the graveyard and put a discovery counter on it. You may play a card from exile with a discovery counter on it this turn.”

The collaborations have been a hit with fans, and Wizards of the Coast senior product designer Daniel Nguyen seems to know why. In an interview with IGN, he states “the goal is always to create products that respect and celebrate the partner, the fans, AND that the cards in the drop feel like they belong in someone’s deck.” Achieving all these goals requires a delicate balance, but WotC has been doing a commendable job at it.

You can expect more exciting crossovers in the future. It has been announced that thanks to a Marvel partnership, cards featuring Marvel’s superhero pantheon are coming in 2025. Fallout and Final Fantasy are also coming to MtG next year.
