Top-down horror game Darkwood turns to Indiegogo

No zombies, Slenderman, or iPhone support

Acid Wizard Studio’s top-down survival horror game Darkwood caught my eye recently with some early gameplay footage. The developers were up front about the possibility of a crowdfunding campaign, and that time has come. It’s a good thing, too — I’ve been playing Don’t Starve lately and I’m in the mood for this type of experience.

Though I highly recommend watching the pitch video, the gist of the situation is that Acid Wizard would like to stop doing contract work so it can finish up Darkwood. There’s just under a month to bring in $40,000 on Indiegogo for the project to move forward, with $10 contributions needed to score a copy of the game. Sounds within reason.

I like that we got to hear about the game before its creators asked for money. Similarly, I feel as if the stretch goals aren’t crucial; should only the base goal be met, I’d be okay with that.
