At first glance, Honkai Star Rail looks like a proper console RPG. You have dungeons to explore, townspeople to talk to, and tons upon tons of lore to shove into your face. You may freely enjoy all of these aspects of Honkai Star Rail as much as you’d like, whether you want to play for five minutes or five hours. That said, Honkai Star Rail still includes some mobile game influences in its secondary systems.
Chief among these is Trailblaze Power. If you’ve played Genshin Impact, Trailblaze Power is almost identical to Resin. That should tell fans of MiHoYo’s other juggernaut free-to-play title all they need to know. For everyone else, here’s the rundown.
How Trailblaze Power works in Honkai Star Rail
Like the first header says, Trailblaze Power is functionally identical to stamina systems in other mobile games. At the start, players will have a stack of 180 Trailblaze Power at their disposal. You can ignore this in the opening section of the game, as you’ll have no use for it yet. As you continue your adventure, you’ll come across optional dungeons and battles that consume Trailblaze Power to initiate.
The first example of this kind of content is the Calyx. Entering a Calyx will throw your party into a standard battle that rewards enhancement materials upon completion. These include Adventurer Logs and Condensed Aether, valuable sources of EXP. You’ll of course want to run these to power up your team, but doing so consumes a small amount of Trailblaze Power. Once your pool runs dry, this content will be blocked off until your Trailblaze Power recharges.
Fortunately, accruing Trailblaze Power again isn’t terribly hard. Additionally, consuming Trailblaze Power also grants Trailblaze Experience, which is crucial in strengthening your party. In other words, if your Trailblaze Power is maxed out, don’t be afraid to burn some of it.
How to recharge Trailblaze Power in Honkai Star Rail
Like other mobile game stamina systems, Trailblaze Power will naturally recharge over time. You’ll recover one Trailblaze Power every six minutes, even if your game is closed. Since you can hold a total of 180 Trailblaze Power, it takes 18 hours to completely refill your reserves. For casual players, this means you can blow through your pool of Trailblaze Power whenever you log in to accrue quick and easy materials. Meanwhile, hardcore players will want to carefully plan how they use this resource for the greatest possible gains.
The game also provides the option of consuming Stellar Jade to restore Trailblaze Power. 50 Jade equals 60 points, at a limit of eight exchanges per day. That said, I aggressively advise against spending Stellar Jade on Trailblaze Power. Unless you really need to level up and absolutely can’t wait, Stellar Jade is too precious to spend this way. Free-to-play players should instead save their Stellar Jade for more Warps. After all, you’ll earn Trailblaze Power just by waiting, so what’s the rush?
Ultimately, it’s up to you to decide on how to use Trailblaze Power. Don’t worry too much about using it optimally, as the game gives you plenty to do while you wait for your reserves to recharge. Whether you’re hardcore or casual, best of luck in strengthening your team!
