An added golden epilogue
It’s been just over a year since Square Enix released its HD-2D turn-based tactics game Triangle Strategy. And now, fans who have put some time into the tactics can get a little bonus for their trouble.
A Version 1.1.0 update has rolled out for Triangle Strategy on available platforms, adding a few different features. For those who want to re-experience the big events of Triangle Strategy, there are replay options for both chapters and story battles.
But also arriving as part of the update is an Extra Story option. This bonus chapter appears on the title screen, but only after you’ve completed the Serenoa route of Triangle Strategy.
If you haven’t played the game or have only seen it through once, you might not be aware of this route. The Serenoa route is Triangle Strategy‘s “golden route,” where the protagonist Serenoa finds an option to resolve all the great mysteries and conflicts that surround the ongoing war.
To get that, you’ll need to make certain choices throughout the game, and be ready to see them through. Doing so will unlock this new extra chapter, which serves as a golden epilogue of sorts.
Return to the battlefield
Alongside content updates, Square Enix also says that some battle adjustments have been made for repeat playthroughs. Other options have been added, that all seem to make repeat playthroughs a bit smoother to run through. It’s nice, considering many players who are going for the golden route are likely doing so on a second run.
I’m happy to see Triangle Strategy get this update, though. It’s remained a memorable, solid tactics experience both on the Switch and other platforms. Any sort of follow-up or sequel speculation aside, I’m happy to see the Triangle Strategy team is being given the room to make these post-launch updates so far out, as little treats for fans who dug this far into the game.
