Two Texas-based gamers thought they were going to GameStop to get some new games, but all they got was a gun in their faces. They just happened to pick the worst time to stop by their local game store.
A Dallas/Ft. Worth CBS affiliate brings us this horribly written report (and video) on a GameStop robbery in Arlington, Texas. Surveillance video shows one robber entering the store with his gun drawn, and the store clerk heads to the back room as ordered. Another robber digs around for a shopping bag to nab consoles (or, as the article says, ‘high-end video equipment’), and not money. These guys know their stuff! They must know that the value of a couple of arm-loads of PS3s and Xbox 360s will far outweigh that of whatever cash is in the register.
One of the boys enters the store and is forced to the ground by the gunman. The other boy follows suit and hits the floor. As the robbers leave, they pass a woman entering the store who may be the boys’ guardian. She promptly makes a phone call.
“It’s certainly concerning to us when someone walks in, in broad daylight, armed with a weapon, forcing customers to the ground,” said Christy Gilford, Arlington Police Department. “That’s exactly why we are releasing this information.”
Authorities have already captured one robber, but are still looking for the other. Anyone with information about the robbery or the second suspect is asked to contact Arlington police.
It took all the restraint I have not to use Chad Warren’s likeness in this post.
