Can this mode just be in every game?
Perhaps spurred by the recent invigoration that Sega has brought back to the Typing of the Dead series, the upcoming re-release of Skullgirls — Skullgirls Encore — will include an all new mode dubbed “The Typing of the Skullgirls Encore.”
Revealed by the game’s design director Mike “Z” Zaimont, during a live demonstration of the game over at EightySix‘s Twitch account yesterday, the mode will be available for the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC versions of Skullgirls Encore when it launches next year.
In the “Typing of the Skullgirls” mode, once a super move — meter fill automatically in this mode — is executed, players must partake in a timed typing exercise that awards damage bonuses based on quickness. Perfectly typed words will increase a super’s damage output by 1.5 times, were as a “right but not perfect” typed words will do normal damage. Misspelled words will reduce damage dealt by 10 percent. On the defensive side of things, damage is sparred or lowered by players typing correctly against an AI controlled opponent that issues a super move.
When Skullgirls Encore releases next year, the new mode will be available to play in Story, Arcade, and Versus. Online and tournament support will not be included.
