UK anti-porn filters are cocking up League of Legends

*whispers* ‘sex’

The “for the children” UK internet restriction filters are going full bore this month. You remembered to opt out, right? If you didn’t, not only are you going to be prevented from seeing my erotic Sonic fanfiction (which is unfortunate, I need the views, there is stiff competition), but you won’t be able to play League of Legends.

League forumer Boompje caught wind of URLs that are blocked by the so-called “anti-porn” filter and thus keep the game from properly updating. URLs like VarusExpirationTimer.luaobj and XerathMageChainsExtended.luaobj are hiding the naughty bits like a Disney film. Look closely? See anything? Perhaps something that can be construed as tumescent phallus? Or, even more insidious, the accidental spelling of, “s” “E” “x.” Please excuse my foul language.

The easiest fix is to loosen up and opt out of the internet filtering. If the decision is out of your control, Boompje also notes you can get a zipped file with the patch from a friend every time there is a new one.

I wonder what other innocuous — or perhaps even vital — portions of the internet were blocked. Apparently the filter censors any pages related to file sharing and piracy, so hopefully that’s not your fetish.

Attention UK summoners! The new anti-secks law may be bugging your patcher! [LoL Forum]
