EA Partners has announced that it has teamed up with The Darkness developer Starbreeze Studios to do … something. That something is reinventing an unnamed EA classic franchise. But this is not just any franchise; we’re talking about one of their “most acclaimed classic franchises.” Codenamed internally as “Project RedLime,” the title is in production for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC. And that’s really about all we know, unfortunately.
“EA Partners is thrilled to hand over the keys to one of EA’s most acclaimed franchises to Starbreeze Studios,” says mayor of Vagueville and vice president and general manager of EA Partners, David DeMartini. “The team is creating an incredibly innovative take on a classic property and EA Partners is poised to deliver a blockbuster launch on the global stage.”
While I’m hoping Starbreeze will be developing next year’s Madden or NBA Live, it’s more likely to be something a bit more action/kill-things-with-guns oriented. I guess we’ll know more when EA and Starbreeze decide to reveal some sort of information about some game sometime in the kind of near future.
