Valve probably loves you, and yes, that even goes for you too, Wheelie. The company has just recently brought out the source files for a good portion of the official Team Fortress 2 maps, including: Lumberyard, Ravine, Badlands, Dustbowl, Granary, Gravelpit, 2Fort, Badwater, Goldrush, and Hydro.
The aim here is to help get beginning map makers used to the process by giving them a nice starting point, and to teach the more experienced guys a thing or two about Valve Design Theory 101. The .vmf source files can be found as an update to the Source SDK, if this sounds at all intriguing to you.
And because you can’t talk about a game like Team Fortress 2 without hinting at something far off in the future, we’re told additional models and maps will one day be added to the SDK as well.
