dtp Entertainment Group has announced that they will be publishing Blood Knights, an action-RPG set in an ancient conflict between mankind and vampires. Developed by Deck13 (the small studio responsible for 2011 downloadable RPG Venetica), it tells the story of a mortal and a vampire bound together by blood and forced to work together to regain their freedom.
It looks decent enough. There’s no shortage of drama in the trailer and the combat bits look like they could be fun. The human, Jeremy, is a duel-wielder of melee weapons while the vampiric Alysa fights at range with crossbows, traps and bombs. Add in that players can swap between characters in single-player or team up with a friend for cooperative play, and this sounds like pretty much every fantasy-based cooperative action-RPG from the last several years.
Hopefully it can do something to make itself stand out. In the meantime, Blood Knights has some potential and I’m curious to see what more we can learn about it before its downloadable release on PC and consoles in Q3 of 2012.
