Video Games Live to perform at Spike Video Game Awards

Wow. The Spike Video Game Awards are the place to be this year. If the newly announced host Sammy J. wasn’t enough to excite you, then maybe the addition of a full-blown videogame orchestral concert would be.

Touring game music concert Video Games Live will perform at Spike TV’s 2007 Video Game Awards. This awards show, airing December 9 (9:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT), will be VGL’s television debut. They are slated to perform some selected popular pieces from their concert line up and will also be adding some new, unseen material.

“It was quite an honor for us to be contacted about performing in the show,” said game composer and VGL co-creator Tommy Tallarico.  “Spike TV’s goal of celebrating video games and bringing them to the masses is exactly the reason we created Video Games Live in the first place.”

Video game composer and co-creator/conductor Jack Wall added, “We’re really excited about this opportunity which gives us a platform to reach millions of people.  We have a few new surprises in store for the audience that we’re really looking forward to performing live.”

As you may already know, Destructoid’s staff are all huge fans of Video Games Live, and several of us have attended multiple performances.  We’re happy that VGL is blowing up. I’m sure they’ll pull out all the stops for the Spike Video Game Awards next month. Good luck, guys!
