I’m a big fan of the WarioWare games, if only for the fact that they are incredibly strange (and remind me a little bit of Rhythm Tengoku). Imagine my delight, then, to hear that Nintendo has plenty of WarioWare coming to the DSi’s downloadable service in the near future. This would be terrific news if in fact I planned to buy a DSi, which I do not, but still, I’m happy to hear it in that “some friends are getting married that you kind of know and had drinks with a few times” kind of way.
In addition to the rerelease of some of the minigames from the GBA and DS installments, there will be a new DSi-specific title called WarioWare: Photograph. From Gamespot UK:
Iwata said that for WarioWare: Photograph, players will place the DSi on a table and then step back so their silhouette appears on-screen (thanks to the camera implanted in the system’s hinges). Simply moving their bodies will allow players to complete simple activities. One nose-picking minigame shown called for a player to line up their extended fingers with a pair of floating nostrils. WarioWare: Photograph is scheduled for release in late December, around the time the DSiWare store goes live.
Good to hear that the fixation on nose picking has not waned. Don’t feel left out if you have no plans to buy a DSi: WarioWare Myself was also announced for the DS, in which players can create their own minigames and share them with other players. A WiiWare version of the game is in the works too, but it seems that it will not feature the creation tool. Oh well, back to the DS!
We’ll keep you posted on prices and release dates as soon as we know more, but I have to say that the minigames I would make will make WarioWare’s weirdest look like child’s play. I can’t wait to inflict them on other people!
