Warner Bros. strikes again: Batman: Arkham Knight having issues on PC

Frame rate unlock fix inside

So Batman: Arkham Knight just released and it seems like the PC port is having all kinds of issues.

According to multiple Steam reviews the game is: capped to 30fps, often drops down to around 10fps or less when gliding or driving, doesn’t like AMD or Nvidia any graphic cards, and is horribly optimized. Many reviews state that GTX 980, the 290X and even the Titan X graphic cards are experiencing frame rate issues, though AMD users seem to have it worse reporting frame rate drops to around 3fps at times.

Sounds like it is best to avoid the PC version for the time being if you haven’t already purchased it, though if you have just remember that Steam recently updated its refund policy to allow refunds as long as you’ve played less than two hours.

If you have a decent graphics card and want to attempt 60fps, do the following:

  1. Browse to  C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Batman Arkham Knight\BMGame\Config\BMSystemSettings.ini
  2. Press Ctrl+F and search for the phrase “maxfps”
  3. Change the number 30 to 60
  4. Save the file and launch the game

While this tweak will allow up to 60fps, though it won’t help the frame rate issues that are sure to still occur until things are patched up at a later date.

Mortal Kombat 9, Mortal Kombat X, Injustice, and now Batman: Arkham Knight have all had horrible PC launches. Get your shit together Warner Bros.
