Warzone players who hoped that May 1’s Season 3 Reloaded patch would mark a turning point for the game have been left sorely disappointed, with fans calling the update “horrid” and claiming that the developer “never truly fix anything, just create more and more issues.”
Season 3 Reloaded includes the new BAL-27 assault rifle, Weapon Trade Stations, and the Specialist Perk Package. Still, many players really wanted to see fixes for the bugs and glitches affecting the game.
Unfortunately, the patch caused more problems than it fixed, with one especially annoying glitch making it impossible to reload a weapon. With audio issues still prevalent, and a general feeling of frustration around the battle royale, some players used Reddit to vent their feelings.
In a post that started the conversation, eliherr wrote that the “Update is horrid,” stating that the constant weapon buffs and nerfs, reload glitch, broken animations, and rotation of game modes had “killed the game” for them.
Tawley agreed, writing that the “Update was pretty bad,” while DoctorSocrates reported that their game had crashed “multiple times” on PS5 and were going to play Fallout instead.
“I took a two-week break, came back today to all of this, and honestly I want another break already,” wrote LifeguardGlum4781. “This game’s gone so downhill. I hate saying that because I’ve always loved playing it.”
Personally, I still enjoy playing Rebirth Island and Resurgence modes, but at this point, you couldn’t pay me to play regular battle royale. There’s a big problem when a vocal group of your community is actively avoid the mode your game is based on, but until we get a new map with CoD 2024, it’s hard to see what improvements can be made.
The concern for Activision must be that the longer this feeling of apathy towards Warzone grows, the harder it will be to turn it around. If rumors are to be believed, Verdansk will return to this, but will a shot of nostalgia be enough to save the battle royale before it’s too late? Only time will tell.
