While many of us might still be upset about some significant nerfs in the latest patch in Helldivers 2, there is something that has many scratching their heads. What is a Fog Generator? Health and armor? What are Fog Generators in Helldivers 2?
To clear up some confusion, here’s what we think is going on.
What are Fog Generators in Helldivers 2?
If you noticed in the Enemies section that “Fog Generators” had an increase in their health and armor, the patch notes refer to Spore Spewers. These are the giant mushrooms that create all that green mist on Terminid missions.
It was theorized that this was the case after patch notes hit, and we tested it ourselves and found that Spore Spewers did indeed take longer to kill than before. Why they weren’t referred to as Spore Spewers in the patch notes did have a lot of players wondering what these were.
In any case, with them now being harder to kill, it does mean that it’s going to take a lot more shots from a gun like the Plasma Scorcher, or the recently nerfed R-36 and Quasar Cannon. These were some of the easier objectives to take on since you can snipe these with explosive weapons.
Now, you’d have to throw something heavier at them or just shoot more explosive ordinance at them to make these side objectives actually challenging. Sure, the only challenging aspect of Spore Spewers or “fog generators” is that they limit your sight when you’re close by.
Easy way to take down Spore Spewers post-patch
You can still use the old methods you use to take these down. If you want a sure-shot kill on these, using a call-down Stratagem like an Eagle 500KG Bomb, Orbital Railcannon Strike, or anything with big single-target damage can take care of it.
If you do just want to gun it down, make sure enemies are cleared so that you aren’t caught in the middle of a reload.
