Now that the Diablo 4 Server Slam beta event has ended, we can turn our sights to the full retail release of the game. There’s many things to consider when choosing the best for you, including digital content, early access, and more. Below we have detailed what comes in each Diablo 4 edition and have compared all editions so you know which one is right for you.
What is in the Diablo 4 Standard Edition?
The standard edition of course comes with the game, but also some other cool bonus items. If you pre-order the standard edition, before June 6 you will receive the Light-Bearer Mount as well as the Caparison of Faith Mount Armor that can be equipped on the mount to change it cosmetically. You also receive three other cosmetic rewards that are usable only in other Blizzard titles.
First, you will receive the Inarius Wings and Inarius Murloc pet which are accessible in Diablo III. Next is the Amalgam of Rage Mount for World of Warcraft, which looks like a standing three-headed Cerberus. A pretty cool-looking mount if you ask me. Lastly is the Umber Winged Darkness cosmetic set for Diablo Immortal.
The standard edition is priced at $69.99.
Diablo 4 Deluxe Edition contents
The deluxe edition of the game includes everything the standard edition does, but also comes with some extra goodies as well.
With this edition, you will receive four days early access to the game. This means you will be able to start playing the game as early as June 1st depending on your time zone. This is a huge advantage and without a doubt the most important thing across all three editions.
In terms of cosmetics, you will receive the Temptation Mount (a steed) as well as the Hellborn Carapace Mount Armor for it. Both of these cosmetics fit the hellish theme of Diablo but overall don’t seem to be anything spectacular.
The final bonus for purchasing this edition of Diablo 4 is an unlock for the first Premium Seasonal Battle Pass. Blizzard has stated the battle pass unlock by itself will cost about $10 and will take roughly 80 hours to fully complete it.
The deluxe edition costs $20 more than the standard edition and is $89.99.
What comes with the Diablo 4 Ultimate edition?
The ultimate edition doesn’t really seem worth it unless you’re trying to get through the battle pass quicker. It comes with all the previous goodies from the standard and deluxe editions, as well as two unique unlocks.
The first is a 20 Tier skip unlock for the battle pass. So, while the deluxe gives you an unlock for the battle pass itself, this unlock will start your battle pass at level 21 as opposed to one.
It also comes with the Wings of the Creator emote which when used makes your character levitate slightly above the ground and sprout Tyrael-like wings from their back for a few seconds.
The ultimate edition is $10 more than the deluxe, meaning it costs $99.99.
So which edition should you get?
At the end of the day only you can make this decision. It’s hard not to recommend at least the deluxe edition, in order to get the four days early access. The ultimate edition only seems worthwhile if you really want to get a jump start on the battle pass. In my opinion, it will get completed either way so why skip through the first 20 tiers. Of course, if you really like the Wings of the Creator emote that may be worth the extra $10 to you.
Either way, be sure to pre-order if you want the Light-bearer mount and its cosmetic armor pack.
