The Indiana Jones and the Great Circle timeline placement sits between two different movies. We won’t be playing as the old man Indiana from Dial of Destiny, so here’s exactly when the game takes place.
What is the Indiana Jones and the Great Circle timeline placement?
Xbox’s Developer Direct confirmed that Indiana Jones and the Great Circle takes place between Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Last Crusade, the first and second movies in the franchise. The story takes place in 1937, according to the game’s official website.
The game begins with Indiana Jones sleeping in his office at Marshall College, but he wakes up to a break-in. A relic has been stolen by a man much bigger than him. Jones believed the artifact was historically insignificant, so he investigates the break-in further and goes to the Vatican.
Where is Indiana going in this adventure?
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle will be taking us to the Vatican, the great Pyramids in Egypt, the Forgotten Temples of Sukhothai, the Himalayas, and other locations. There is one instance in which Indiana is jumping from one plane to another.
“We looked carefully at each location and the time period the game is set in and we’re trying to make it as authentic as possible,” said Senior Lighting Artist Juli Haraldsdottir in the official gameplay reveal trailer.
We don’t know where else Indy will be setting off to, but Bethesda and Xbox have confirmed Indiana Jones and the Great Circle releases sometime this year for the Xbox Series X, Xbox Series, and PC. It will be available on Xbox Game Pass as well. Hopefully, it’s just as good as developer MachineGames’ last big hit Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus.
