After passing through the brief tutorial area of Enshrouded, you’ll be tasked with building a Flame Altar which creates an area of influence to build a base. Building and crafting is a huge part of this open-world RPG, as you’ll recruit NPC’s and be tasked with housing them. So where is the best place to build your first base in Enshrouded? Here’s what we recommend.
Here is the best place for your first base in Enshrouded
Soon after completing the tutorial you will receive a quest that marks an area on your map titled Plains for First Base. Now you don’t necessarily have to choose that area for your first base. However, you should, and here is why.
You’ll need to get some things crafted that requires a base before you can really progress through this first area in Enshrouded. The Shroud is everywhere, and the Fel creatures in the surrounding area can really be a pain, especially if you are playing solo. You’ll need to craft some better weapons, armor, healing items, and more.
This really is a great spot for a first base
While it may seem like a good idea to just wait until you find a better spot, you’ll need an area to craft what you need, so there’s no sense in waiting. Especially given the fact that you can later build another Flame Altar, which means another base. Think of this as just your starter base to get things going. If you’re convinced there’s a better spot out there—which there definitely is—just build the bare necessities you need to get things going at your first starter base.
Another reason this is actually the best spot for your first base in Enshrouded is because it’s the plains. It’s a wide-open area with lots of room. Oh, and it’s mostly flat, which is nice for building a nice base. There’s also most resources you’ll need in close proximity. That means plenty of trees to cut down, stones to mine, and even animals to kill for furs and meats.
As you can see in the screenshot above, I was able to make a decent starter base in the area. To be honest, I only used about half of the area of influence as well. Having so much flat land really is great for your first shot at building.
