After the release of the Skyline Valley update for Fallout 76, players quickly noticed that scrapping Pickaxes resulted in Legendary modules. This obvious glitch has fans on the hunt for these previously mediocre but now extremely valuable weapons.
Pickaxe spawns have been temporarily disabled
Unfortunately for players hoping to get some easy Legendary modules, this exploit was busting the economy of Fallout 76. Bethesda released a hotfix to temporarily disable Pickaxes from spawning in the world. This also means that if you have the blueprint to craft a Pickaxe, you’ll get a “lack the requirements” message when you try to make one.
However, even after the hotfix, Pickaxes still appear in some locations, and they occasionally drop from Scorched enemies as well. Here are the places you’ll want to check out to find a Pickaxe after the hotfix:
- Foundation – Exterior
- Gauley Mine
- Glassed Cavern
- Nuka World On Tour – Tunnel of Love
Where to find Pickaxes in Fallout 76 normally
If you want a Pickaxe because you’re a completionist and need to collect every weapon in the game, you might want to know all the places you can find them in normal circumstances. In addition to the above locations, Pickaxes usually spawn in the following areas:
- Blackwater Mine
- Garrahan Mining Headquarters
- Greg’s Mine Supply
- Lucky Hole Mine
- Miners Monument
- Tygart Wastewater Treatment Plant
Though Pickaxes can currently still be found in Fallout 76 even after the hotfix, it’s only a matter of time before Bethesda notices the oversight and also disables those spawn locations or patches the Legendary module glitch. So if you’re hoping for some easy looting, you might want to hurry.
