There’s a dragon on my back

You’ll find a few dragons scattered throughout Hyrule. Some of them are too large to battle, though they do supply some valuable loot. This applies to Naydra the Ice Dragon, as Link can make ample us of its claws, scales, and shards.

Catching up to Naydra in Tears of the Kingdom is easier than its fire and electric counterparts, though some preparation is needed.

Naydra the Ice Dragon’s Location in Tears of the Kingdom

Naydra does quite a lot of traveling. Jumping onto its back will take Link on a journey that spans Lanayru, Necluda, and the Depths.

The easiest way to locate the ice dragon is to wait for it in Hateno Village, ideally near the Hateno Ancient Tech Lab. After passing this location, it will head to Kakariko Village where it will enter a chasm and begin its journey through the Depths. The ride lasts longer than ten minutes before the dragon resurfaces from a chasm near Mount Lanayru.

How to Climb Onto Naydra

The ice dragon is very cold, so pack plenty of cold-resistant meals or wear cold-resistant armor. There are a few ways to get onto the dragon’s back. The first is to wait near Mount Lanayru until the dragon emerges.

Alternatively, wait in Kakariko Village, where there is plenty to do until Naydra heads there to make its descent into the Depths. It is also possible to wait by the Mount Lanayru Skyview Tower until the dragon makes an appearance above, then parachute Link onto its back.

Acquiring loot from Naydra is worth the hassle. Its claws are needed for a quest, and its scales can be used to upgrade armor sets. You can’t kill the dragon, so don’t waste weapons trying to hurt it. Instead, admire its beauty, and take only you need before allowing it to complete its daily circuit.
