“Find the Stern Librarian Ffion” is a side quest acquired in the third act of Baldur’s Gate 3 when players visit the Sharess’ Caress. Here’s a complete guide on how to solve the mystery of Ffion.
When passing through Wyrm’s Crossing, which is on your way to the Lower City and the Baldur’s Gate proper, you may visit an establishment dedicated to adult entertainment called Sharess’ Caress. Talking with the building’s proprietor, Mamzell Amira, will lead her to ask a favor of you, unlocking the “Stern Librarian” side objective.
How to find the ‘Stern Librarian’ Ffion
Amira wants you to find one of her missing workers, Ffion, who hasn’t been to work for a while. She gives you the key to her “pleasure room” called Elminster’s Library, located on the building’s third floor. Just head up the stairs at the back and go up another flight of stairs, reaching a door to the balcony. Elminster’s Library is a locked room to your right.
Search the room for any valuables and loot, and then make your way to the table by the bed. On it, you can find Ffion’s journal, a note that gives you the name of Flaygo’s Flophouse as a potential place to start your investigation.
After reading the journal, find your way back to the street again. Fortunately, Flaygo’s Flophouse is located right across the street from Sharess’ Caress. There’s even a blue inn sign, so you can’t really miss it.
Enter Flaygo’s Flophouse and go to the second floor. Here there is a ladder taking you to an attic. In the adjourning room, you’ll find a locked wardrobe that’s actually a hidden door. You can roll to pick the lock and open the pathway if you don’t have the key. The key can also be acquired by unlocking the “Solve the Open Hand Temple Murders” side quest.
Unlocking the wardrobe will open the room beyond, which is adorned by simple furniture and a bed. Check the bloodstains near the bed to discover Ffion’s body. After finding Ffion Goldgrind’s body, you can head back to Sharess’ Caress and report her fate to Mamzell Amira by choosing the “I found Ffion’s corpse, she’s been murdered” dialogue, and that completes the quest.
Mamzell Amira can offer you free time with the Drow twins Nym and Sorn as payment, so make sure to pick “I’m sure you can spare a little something for me” from the ensuing dialogue options.
The Drow twins’ services go for 1,000 gold pieces, so that could be a sizeable reward. If you’re romancing a companion and they’re with you at the moment, you might be able to persuade them to, uh, share the experience.
