It’s powerful in a vacuum

Priority moves are a fixture of competitive Pokemon, so naturally, select monsters will benefit from learning Vacuum Wave from TM 184. This one’s a bit of a special case, since it’s a Fighting-Type move that scales off Special Attack.

Most Fighting-Type monsters veer towards Attack instead, but those with the stats for this move can really make an impact. Bloodmoon Ursaluna is one such example, as that respectable 135 Special Attack can make this move sing. And when your Speed stat isn’t that high, using a move that guarantees you’ll outspeed non-priority moves helps a lot.

Fortunately, you can find TM 184 and learn Vacuum Wave without too much trouble in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet. Here’s where to look.

TM 184 is one of the new TMs added as part of The Teal Mask DLC. So, assuming you have that, you’ll find this one right in Kitakami. The easiest way to get to this is to travel to the Crystal Pool fast travel point in the middle of the map. Loop around to the West and look for the mound right under where text “Infernal Pass” is on your map. You’ll find TM 184 under the south-most rock on the mound as indicated by your map’s green dots. It’s kind of lodged in there, so this one’s easy to miss, honestly.

If you’re having trouble, see the above screenshot for the exact map location. Once you see the shining golden Pokeball, TM 184 and Vacuum Wave will be yours!

How to craft Vacuum Wave in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet: The Teal Mask

Of course, if you want to craft TM 184 for yourself, you’ll need the following materials:

  • 3,000 League Points
  • 3 Riolu Fur
  • 2 Croagunk Poison

Unlike many TMs added to The Teal Mask, you can grab all these materials right in Paldea. In fact, you can’t even find Croagunk in Kitakami. To locate this Poison-Type monster, look in the swampy area north of the South Province (Area Five) fast travel point. You’ll find this near the southeastern corner of Paldea.

Riolu, meanwhile, appears in both Paldea and Kitakami. It’s a bit on the elusive side, though, so whichever spot you pick to look for it, considering making a sandwich to boost the appearance of Fighting-Type Pokemon. Remember, Lucario will also drop Riolu Fur upon defeat!
