Where’s our Assassin’s Creed Rogue review?

We found a new Rogue trailer, though

[Update: It’s right here!]

At Destructoid, we believe that transparency in consumer advocacy is of the utmost importance. When a review isn’t going to be timely, we like to keep everyone apprised of the situation. We may have just one opinion out of a whole lot on the Internet, but there’s a contingent that takes our thoughts into consideration when making purchasing decisions. As such, we like to be open about the review process, even if that means simply saying that it’s not ready yet.

With regard to Assassin’s Creed Rogue, the review won’t be posted by the time that the game’s on store shelves. That’s because it hasn’t reached our mailbox yet. Talking with some peers, that seems to be the case with the majority of outlets. You can expect the review as soon as possible when it does eventually show up, but it won’t be immediately when you could theoretically plunk down cash for it.

As always (and this should go without saying by now), we never recommend paying for a game before you hear the opinion of a trusted source. Whether that’s a friend, YouTuber, media outlet, whatever — games are too expensive to unknowingly pay for a dud, and doing so only encourages publishers to keep making them. If you’re rolling your eyes right now, go talk to someone that bought Aliens: Colonial Marines at midnight on launch day.

That’s not necessarily indicative of how Assassin’s Creed Rogue will turn out. Maybe it’ll be great. Hopefully it is. We won’t know for another few days. For what it’s worth, our Assassin’s Creed Unity review will be up tomorrow at 12 p.m. EST. Just be smart (and patient) about what you do with your money, and we’ll let you know our personal thoughts as soon as we can.
