IP owner contemplates third installment
Over the weekend, Monolith Productions founder Jace Hall put it out on Facebook that he is “contemplating” setting up an independent development team with the rights to Condemned “so that they can take over the franchise and move it forward.” Focused on other projects as he is right now, it’s “just sitting there,” and he’s curious if he should “explore the idea further.” (Yes.)
The first-person horror series arrived as an early Xbox 360 game ahead of an eventual PC port, which holds up well to this day. Its sequel, released in 2008, was far too supernatural for its own good, but damn if that bear-chase sequence wasn’t worth the trip. Both titles “did well,” according to Hall, “and [he is] consistently asked when a third game might be created.”
