In Helldivers 2, there is only one ally you can really count on. No, I’m not talking about other Helldivers, who spent the first month shooting their buds for samples. I mean Eagle 1, who rains death from above. But who is Eagle 1 in Helldivers 2?
Eagle 1 is the call sign of the pilot (no, not Bill Pullman) who gets summoned with Eagle Stratagems. Helldivers one and all will recognize the voice behind the jet that screams onto the battlefield, belting out such quotes as “Coming in hot!” and “An Eagle never misses.” One of these is a lie. She doesn’t have a real name or an in-game face. But the community has submitted some, erm, fascinating pieces of Eagle 1 fan art.
The work of fan artists hasn’t escaped the sharp eyes of the official Helldivers 2 account on X (formerly Twitter), sharing a piece by @SpiritDraws_S.
Helldivers 2: Eagle 1 ship location and voice actor
But who is the voice of Eagle 1 in Helldivers 2? Eagle 1 is voiced by Rachel Kimsey, who’s worked as a professional actor for about 25 years. Her more notable roles include Mackenzie Browning in The Young and the Restless, Meredith Hudson in Days of Our Lives, and Wonder Woman in Justice League Action, with many minor parts otherwise. She began voicing for video games in 2007 as Betty Brant in Spider-Man 3. Kimsey has since lent her voice to Genshin Impact, two Call of Duty games, Horizon Zero Dawn, New World, and, of course, Helldivers 2.
Though you don’t know what she looks like, you are at least able to check out her craft while on your Super Destroyer ship. The Eagle Fighter is docked in the Hangar with its wings folded down. Typically, you’re not able to go down there and get a closer look unless a bug causes you to clip past the handrails surrounding the hangar (it’s happened to me twice now).
The community has demonstrated a clear adoration for their bird in the sky, even if Super Earth makes Eagle 1’s life a bit rough. You can upgrade your Eagle Stratagems at the Ship Management menu, adding more bombs to a payload or reducing cooldown. But it’s often at a cost.
The description for the Hangar upgrades are a tough read. ‘XXL Weapons Bay’, for example, adds one more bomb to certain Stratagems “by removing unnecessary systems such as fire suppression, ejection, and airbags” from the Eagle Fighter. Be kind; the fight for freedom is rough for everyone.
