Cyberpunk 2077 is full of fantastic performances. However, the player character of V won’t meet everyone. Some take on more of a background role with only their voices or other works doing the talking for them. Such is the case with 99.9, Impulse Radio’s DJ in the Phantom Liberty expansion. Just who are they?
Who is the voice actor of Impulse Radio’s DJ in Cyberpunk 2077?
The DJ of 99.9 Impulse Radio is none other than Idris Elba himself (as in, the actor who also has a successful music career in real life). Before you jump to conclusions, no, this isn’t his character Solomon Reed. This was confirmed during the Phantom Liberty Night Wire Special. Aside from having two of his own tracks on 107.5, Dark Star, Idris Elba’s Impulse Radio consists of unreleased tracks compiled into his DJ set.
While Mr. Elba doesn’t lend his voice to the radio, there’s plenty of his music to enjoy. There hasn’t been any official confirmation as to the number of tracks and who Mr. Elba may have collaborated with. Extraction methods have also proven ineffective as the track info isn’t available in the game’s files. With the tracks themselves being unreleased, there’s no way to cross-reference them either. It appears this is exclusive to owners of Phantom Liberty for the time being.
Is it good? I don’t know. I’m an old man who is no longer with it. I tend to turn the radio off in Cyberpunk 2077 and will go so far as to shoot any I see in the open world. That being said, it made for some good background music while I parked my V in a car and left the radio playing while I wrote this up.
