Get ready to add crazy cat ladies and people with one too many dogs in their homes to the long list of Wii owners. For many people keeping their pets healthy is almost as important as keeping themselves healthy, and thus it is quite possible that many people will be overjoyed to hear that Wii Fit Plus will allow players to not only track their own weight, but the weight of their pets as well. As was demoed for me at E3 with my computer bag, Wii Fit Plus allows users to find out the weight of things by holding them and then subtracting their body weight. What was not demoed was the fact that the game will allow for avatars for pet dogs and cats, and thus will be able to keep track of the pet’s weight via the aforementioned method.
It’s a well known fact (not really) that I’m actually a supporter of Wii Fit, so while I see the absolute ridiculousness of this feature, I can also see it being a really big hit with the casual crowd. I actually wish you could make an animal avatar outside of the game so that it could play with my Mii since the thing doesn’t really do anything else. However, I’m pretty sure that the rest of you have just rolled the eyes to the back of your head and muttered something about Nintendo stabbing you in the back yet again. It probably doesn’t help that they demoed Wii Fit Plus to a bunch of B-grade celebs on Wednesday in preparation of the game’s launch tomorrow. Destructoid was not invited to that event by the way, but it’s probably best as we would have simply perved on Rachel Leigh Cook the entire time.
