Confirmed: Japanese teens hate Nintendo Wii!
In Nintendo’s financial results briefing, speaking on product appeal, Satoru Iwata shared some age-demographic charts for both Japan and USA. The data for Japan shows that teens, or those high school and college age, aren’t as interested in the Wii and its games. Monster Hunter 3G is aimed at them to bring them into the fold.
The data shows that Wii is highly popular with children and adults in their 30’s, but there’s a huge dip for the ages between.
Iwata and the gang are working to fix that: “Needless to say, we are making efforts to prepare a wider software lineup, including software with a charm not typically provided by Nintendo, in order to satisfy the needs of many different consumers,” he says.
America does not have this dip. Our Wii age-demographic chart shows a steadily declining interest as players get older.
