XDefiant is Ubisoft’s answer to Call of Duty, but while the world’s biggest FPS is available on Steam, will the new challenger to the throne be on PC’s top gaming platform at launch?
For console players, downloading a game is easy. There’s only one store to get them from, so you simply go to it, search for your desired title, and let it get to work. On PC, there are plenty of platforms for games to release on, including Steam, Epic Games Store, and many more.
While competition can be a good thing, it can be a little annoying if you can’t download the title you want on the platform you use most often. It can be especially frustrating if a game is released on a random app that you never use. Unfortunately, that’s the case with XDefiant.
Will XDefiant launch on Steam?
No, XDefiant will not be on Steam when it launches on May 21. While it’s FPS competitors like CoD and Halo are both found on Valve’s platform, Ubisoft have chosen not to make the game available there.
What PC platform will XDefiant launch on?
XDefiant will be exclusive to Ubisoft Connect on PC. This was the same for the open betas and server tests, but players had hoped that the full release would be on Steam, as that’s where most PC gamers can be found.
Unfortunately, there doesn’t seem to be any plans to bring the game to Valve’s client either, so I’d suggest downloading Ubisoft Connect now if you want to play the FPS.
