Alongside Messi
FIFA 16 marks a first for the series with its inclusion of women footballers in the form of 12 playable women’s international teams from Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, England, France, Germany, Italy, Mexico, Spain, Sweden, and the United States of America.
Some of those women are even sharing the cover with Argentina’s Lionel Messi.
Member of the recently winning US women’s national team, Alex Morgan will be on the cover in the US and Canadian captain Christine Sinclair will be on the cover in, you guessed it, Canada.
This decision seems to have been made a while ago, which is why World Cup hero Carli Lloyd isn’t getting the nod. The FIFA series is used to play up the World Cup, going so far to release an additional, full-priced version of the game every four years during the men’s tournament, so it’s not surprising EA is capitalizing on growing mainstream interest in the winning women’s side. Still nice to see ’em get the nod.
