PC release to follow on June 29
It’s taken a while to get to this point, but developer ININ Games finally has a launch date for the incoming Wonder Boy: Asha in Monster World. The cutesy retro remake will launch on PS4 and Nintendo Switch on May 28, with a PC port hitting Steam a month later on June 29.
Developed by Studio Artdink, Asha in Monster World is a ground-up remake of long-lost Sega Genesis title Wonder Boy IV, and sees our swashbuckling young hero pick her way through a colorful fantasy environment, gathering treasures and fending off beasties on a quest to rescue four imprisoned spirits.
While the Wonder Boy IV narrative remains true to its 1994 origins, Asha in Monster World‘s gameplay has been fully redesigned, featuring colorful 2.5D visuals, a remastered score by original composer Shinichi Sakamoto, and fully-voiced cinematic cutscenes. The remake has been overseen by Wonder Boy creator Ryuichi Nishizawa, and hopefully the new title will deliver all of the fun and adventure of the classic series.
Wonder Boy: Asha in Monster World launches May 28 on PS4 and Switch, and June 29 on PC via Steam. It is important to note that while the physical release also includes a port of the original Wonder Boy IV, the digital edition of the game omits this bonus.
