Even though we’re only a little over a week into World of Warcraft: Dragonflight patch 10.2 Guardians of the Dream, Blizzard has opted to reveal the next update, patch 10.2.5. In a post on the Battle.net news site titled In Development: Seeds of Renewal, Blizzard detailed some features of the upcoming update.
Dragonriding worldwide
Even though we already knew the next expansion, World of Warcraft: The War Within would replace the existing basic riding skill with Dragonriding, it looks like we’ll see the foundation of that systematic change in Seeds of Renewal. The current Dragonriding system will be available in all old-world continents, wherever flying is typically available. This will replace the current system that is only available in the new Dragon Isles continent.
A new Weekly Public Event will allow players to participate in solo and group activities called the Azerothian Archives. The event takes place in the Traitor’s Rest in Valdrakken, and offers a trove of rewards including Battle Pets, Mounts, and a Transmog set.
Return to Gilneas
Apparently, King Greymane is finally ready to retake Gilneas, but needs our help to do so. A new Gilneas Reclamation event will allow players to help Greymane reclaim his long-lost kingdom and reclaim Gilneas.
This also comes alongside a new system called Follower Dungeons. These dungeons allow you to fill your party with NPC companions as you progress through the eight Normal Dragonflight Dungeons. It sounds like the Squadron/Duty Support system from Final Fantasy XIV, and it’s certainly a welcome addition.
Oh, also Trolls get some new hair colors to customize their character, as well as some new customizations for Draenei and some Warlock minions.
These .5 patches are typically rather bare, but this sounds like we’re getting a mix of quality of life updates as well as new features and content.
There is no release date for Seeds of Renewal just yet, but according to a post on the Warcraft Twitter, the update hits the PTR this week.
